What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a facial treatment of manual exfoliation remove dead skin cells, dry skin and vellums hair (peach fuzz) from the face.
How it works?
A medical sterile scalpel is used to gently scrape the top layers fine facial hair, dry skin, and dead skin cells from the face. This gives a brighter and smoother complexion from the manual exfoliation, which also allows makeup to be applied more flawlessly, and topical products to be applied to the newly exposed skin. it is important to note, facial hair does not grow back faster or thicker after this procedure.
Who is suitable for this treatment?
Those with dull skin, lots of bellows hair, fine lines and wrinkles, those seeking brighter, smoother, and more even toned skin, or those with an event coming up where they would like their skin to look flawless. Generally those with rosacea, acne, eczema and psoriasis are not suitable, however, AJ Aesthetics uses a sensitive balm, to avoid any friction, so as long as there is no active skin conditions, it is safe for them to also have dermaplaning.
What’s to expect after treatment?
- Results are instant.
- Although small cuts are very rare, due to the use of a scalpel this can occur.
- Although redness can occur, this is very rare, due to the use of the sensitive balm, and will usually settle within a short period of time.
- Although this treatment causes no physical downtime, it is important to consider if you have plans the same day as treatment, as unable to apply any products or makeup to the face.
- If there is a holiday coming up, it is important to allow a couple of days for this treatment, to ensure the skin does not significantly burn, it is important to apply SPF for at least 7 days post treatment,
- Avoid extremes of hot/cold, saunas, or swimming for 48 hours post treatment.
- Avoid makeup or facial products for 24-48 hours post treatment.
