What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable hyaluronic acid (a substance naturally found in the body) to provide immediate and lasting volume and contour to the face. Their cross linked properties are designed to enhance volume, shape, and definition to the cheeks, jawline, and chin for facial structure, as well as the marionette lines and nasolabial folds for volume loss, resulting in lines on the face. The result provides a balanced and sculpted appearance, bringing out the natural youthful appearance of the face. Perfect for addressing volume loss, this contouring can give you sharper cheekbones, a more defined jawline, and a smooth, harmonious profile—all with natural-looking results and minimal downtime

How it works?

During the natural ageing process the body’s natural hyaluronic acid and collagen production decreases, causing fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of fat within the facial fat pads. Dermal fillers can restore this volume to give a snatched jawline, sharper cheekbones, and smooth out any unwanted dents, lines or folds within the face. The result is instant and gives a more youthful, sculpted, and lifted appearance, restoring the natural features of the face.
The treatment is minimally invasive and the appointment typically takes 45-60 minutes, this will include adequate time for numbing, post filler checks and aftercare.

How much is needed?

Volume is unique to the individual and there is a no size fits all. The amount needed would depend on the aesthetic result that is desired and this can be discussed with the practitioner. There is guidelines set within pricing, but packages can be arranged to suit each client’s needs.

What to expect after treatment?

  • Bruising and swelling can occur. It is normal and although it causes no physical downtime, it is important to consider if there is an important event coming up, for example a holiday or wedding. It is recommended to allow two weeks prior to any events to allow for if there is any bruising post treatment.
  • Results can be seen immediately and does gets better over the following months as the filler settle, and any bruising and swelling subsides
  • If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores, so please also bear this in mind prior to treatment.
  • It is also important to avoid any excess sun exposure, extremes of hot/cold, saunas, swimming or strenuous exercise until the redness and swelling has fully settled.
  • Avoid makeup or facial products for 24 hours post treatment.
  • If needed antihistamines and cool pack (not ice pack) can be used to reduce swelling post treatment. Arnica cream or gel can also be applied post treatment for any bruising to encourage healing, or tablet form is also available and can be used for 7-14 days post treatment.

Is there anything to consider prior to treatment?

  • Avoid blood thinners (eg. Ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin, alcohol, and caffeine). 7 days prior to treatment Blood thinners increase the risk and size of any bruising.
  • Take arnica tablets for 7-14 days prior to treatment. The 30c potency are best.
